From Saturday 17 October to Sunday 1 November, The Little Red Cottage presents Ghosts of Gondwana, In the Company of Trees, a solo exhibition by Kim Herringe.

The exhibition has grown from time Kim has spent on a private property in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Once logged and later used for agriculture, the land is now being carefully restored towards rainforest.

The old trees growing there have become witnesses, survivors and companions within the work. Around them, new growth is returning, revealing what can become possible when a place is given care and time.

Through an entirely new body of work, Kim responds to the trees as living presences rather than botanical specimens. Working across printmaking, artist books, photography and poetry, she explores resilience, vulnerability, interconnectedness and belonging, while reflecting on what has endured and what is returning.

Set within the intimate and welcoming space of The Little Red Cottage, the exhibition invites visitors to slow down, look closely and spend time in the company of trees. The works are grounded in awe and respect for the natural world, and in the quiet possibility held within a recovering landscape.

Visitors are invited to experience the exhibition over three weekends and two weeks and encounter a thoughtful body of work grounded in place, materiality and the quiet persistence of botanical life.
