The Little Red Cottage will host Beyond Bunya Dieback, a group exhibition bringing artists together in response to the beauty, significance, and vulnerability of Bunya trees and the ecosystems they support.
Featuring local, interstate, and international artists, including First Nations artists, the exhibition will explore the deep cultural and ecological importance of Bunya and Bonyi trees, while drawing attention to the growing threat of dieback pathogens affecting these ancient species and the fragile environments of the Glass House Mountains.
Through a range of mediums, the works will respond to themes of resilience, loss, connection, and care. The exhibition invites visitors to reflect on the living systems that sustain us and the importance of protecting Country through shared knowledge, creative practice, and community action.
Beyond Bunya Dieback will form part of the broader Beyond Bunya Dieback program and will run alongside the symposium on Friday 14 March 2025, where scientists, Traditional Custodians, conservationists, and community members will come together to share knowledge and discuss ways to protect these important ecosystems.
An exhibition launch will be held on Saturday 8 March, offering an opportunity to celebrate the artists, hear their insights, and reflect on the role of art in environmental awareness and conservation.
Set within the warm and welcoming space of The Little Red Cottage above Forest Heart ecoNursery, Beyond Bunya Dieback will offer a thoughtful and timely exhibition experience, bringing art and ecology into conversation in the heart of Maleny.
